Like most estate agents we are always trying to point out all the ways that a property can be enhanced or
improved – extensions, kitchen upgrades, décor updates and all that sort of thing. Well, we have absolutely met our match here – the only addition we could think of was twinkly lights, soft music and a laughing crowd enjoying a barbecue in the gorgeous garden and wandering in and out to the spacious kitchen and living area.
Rathdown Court is a small development of six detached homes, in a quiet cul-de-sac just off Corrib Road.
The site has an interesting history, it was originally a playground for the children of the Guinness Brewery employees who lived in the nearby brewery-provided homes.
EXPLORE INSIDE
The hallway leads to a sitting room to the front, understairs WC, and a stunning bright room with fitted kitchen, sitting and dining areas at the rear. It’s one of those ‘heart of the family’ rooms, with the fallback of the sitting room to the front – a bolt hole when quiet space is needed. Colours throughout are neutral and the solid wood floors are a fantastic addition. Upstairs there are three good bedrooms, two with built in wardrobes and the master ensuite. All those expressions like ‘walk-in condition’ and ‘turn-key’ apply to this fantastic property, you could literally unpack in the morning and head into town for the afternoon without a care in the world.
EXPLORE OUTSIDE
There is off-road parking for one / two cars to the front. The rear garden is a star feature. Because of the position of the house in the development the garden to the rear offers much more space than you would expect from the front. Even the generous extension has not diminished the potential for a real ‘room outside’ experience – whether that’s a quiet morning coffee with the paper or the previously mentioned barbecue for friends. Wider afield, the location is superb. Over the last decade Terenure has transformed itself from a sleepy village without even a decent supermarket to a vibrant, on-trend urban destination. There are also sports and leisure facilities nearby, including the CYM Sports club which caters to multiple sports and activities. We’ve been raving about the rejuvenation of Harold’s Cross recently and this property is fantastically well located to benefit from the newly-trendy village with its food trucks, cafés, restaurants and parks. Regular bus services pass nearby connecting to any part of the city you care to name, including Dublin Airport.
THE BOTTOM LINE
There is so much going for this house it’s hard to pick a favourite feature. One thing we know is that there’s going to be lots of interest, don’t hang about if it might be the home you’ve been waiting for.
