Description:

A feature in the Irish Times recently noted that people are waking up to Blessington as a great place to live. It’s a real country town with a vibrant community and good facilities. In these days of remote working, this might be just the right choice for someone who wants to escape the city, but who needs to be able to get to the office occasionally.

Parkview cottage was remodelled and updated about 15 years ago and is a short stroll into the heart of Blessington. At 93 sq. meters it’s a tidy size, but the layout means that there is almost no wasted space.

EXPLORE INSIDE

The porch-style hall leads to the sitting room on the left and on the right to an ensuite bedroom with a generous walk-in wardrobe (that’s not a typo – an actual WALK-IN WARDROBE). The sitting room has a real-fire fireplace and double doors into an open plan dining room and well-fitted kitchen.
The main bathroom and another bedroom are through a doorway off the dining room – a clever layout which means that this bedroom is also effectively ensuite.

EXPLORE OUTSIDE

The front is paved for parking and the rear garden is a bit of a blank canvas (creating your dream ‘room outside’ is probably the only project that this house offers, if you’re after a project).

This area is paradise for the outdoor enthusiast. Fishing and boating are obviously a major pursuit with Blessington Lakes on the doorstep – although they’re not actually lakes, it’s a manmade reservoir stretching over 5,500 acres. The Blessington Greenway links Blessington to the fabulous Russborough House. It’s a 6k signposted hike with little difficulty involved and the possibility of a nice cup of tea and a scone in Russborough House Café when you get to the end.

Back in town there is a good selection of shops and cafes, and Naas is 20k away for serious shopping. The 65 bus goes to Dublin City via Terenure and Rathmines, and there is a local-link 884 bus that runs weekdays to Sallins railway station.

THE BOTTOM LINE

We think this house has a lot going for it – don’t hang about if you think it might be for you.
